Virginia

Virginia is vibrant town on the shores of Lough Ramor just one hour from Dublin. Virginia has plenty to offer in the way of accommodation, restaurants, golf, woodland walking trails and the local Ramor theatre.

In 2012 the town celebrated its 400 year anniversary and played host to a year-long celebration. However Virginia remains the main festival town of county Cavan with many big festivals and events held throughout the year such as the annual Virginia Pumpkin Festival, the Virginia Street Fair, held on the last Sunday of June every year, and the Virginia Agricultural Show which takes place in August and is one of the biggest and most exciting shows in the Ireland.

The Ramor Theatre in the town brings a variety of dramatic and musical events on a regular basis. Walkers will enjoy the marked walk through the Deerpark Forest on the edge of the town while golfers will love the 9-hole course at the Park Hotel. Lough Ramor is a popular angling destination, a particular favourite of pike anglers.
