There are numerous medieval castles in Ireland. Each castle has its own architecture style. The castles of Ireland portray the evolution of the country and the rise and fall of Irish history. Some of the current Irish castles are just a shell of what they were while others display their glorious and rich past. The Donegal castle is located in the center of the Donegal Town which is in the northwest of Ireland. The Donegal Castle was built in the 15th century and was the home of the famous O’Donnell chieftains of fishermen and mariners. The castle was later passed on to and renovated by the English captain, Basil Brooke. You can visit the Donegal castle in groups of up to thirty-five people and experience the different styles of the castle.

The King John castle is located in the area of Limerick. This castle is well-known for the coins that King John minted. As a souvenir, you will receive special coins during your visit to King John Castle. A trip to the King John castle will give you an informative perspective of the way life in the earliest days in Limerick was.

In the south of Ireland in the city of Cork, you will find the Blarney castle which was built 600 years ago by Cormac MacCarthy. The Blarney castle is famous for the Stone of Eloquence which is also known as the Blarney stone which is situated on the highest point of the castle tower. This stone is known as the Stone of Eloquence due to the famous legend that claims that if it is kissed, the person who kisses it will receive eloquence as a gift.

The Blarney castle is open year round for group tours and summer tours of the Blarney House which was built in 1874 and is located a few yards south of the Blarney castle. If you want a glimpse of ancestral furniture, tapestries, art, and portraits, you should plan a visit to the Blarney castle and the Blarney house at your earliest convenience.
