Ballymote Heritage Weekend, organised by the local Heritage Group, run annually over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Over the course of the weekend there are numerous outings to areas of historical or natural interest, lectures by guest speakers including complimentary tea and light refreshments for everybody.

Boyle Arts Festival is highly regarded for its group exhibitions of contemporary Irish art, as well as its programme of classical music. The beauty of Boyle Arts Festival is the emphasis it places on small, intimate events in historical and architecturally unique buildings. This 10 day festival has a strong reputation as one of Ireland's best arts festivals. Although music and art are the cornerstones of the festival, more recently different events are promoted such as drama, film, literature and storytelling, comedy, singers nights and street theatre and an appealing mix of workshops and childrens programmes. Local art exhibitions, pop-up galleries and craft trails are now part of the programme which has made art accessible to all who get involved.

The annual Clones Canal Festival and Soap Box Race is a weekend of fun for all the family culminating in a daring soap box race which now attracting contestants from across county Monaghan and neighbouring counties. From the festival launch on the Friday to the main race on Sunday the festival is is great fun. n recent years the event has included a massive charity truck show, fun runs, cycle races, kayaking, trips along the Ulster Canal, a farmers market, arts and crafts stalls and live music throughout the weekend.

Clonmany Festival is Ireland's longest running and most well known family festival. The event is held on the August Bank Holiday weekend every year in the beautiful village of Clonmany, Co. Donegal. The Cup of Tae Festival in Ardara, Co. Donegal is a festival of music with an emphasis on Donegal Fiddle playing with schools of music on Fiddle, Flute, Whistle, Accordian, Piano and Voice. This unique festival honours the memory and talent of the famous Donegal Fiddler, John ‘The Tae’ Gallagher. Leitrim Roots Festival is a week long celebration for all people with historical and ancestoral links to 'Lovely Leitrim'. Held annually in September the festival attracts people coming from all over the world, from places such as Canada, USA, Australia, England and Scotland. Festival activities include a Yeats Day at Lough Gill and Glencar, a Famine Research Day in Carrick and Strokestown, a Genealogy Day at Ballinamore and Carrigallen. The festival also includes visits to Arigna Mining Experience. There is a Gala Dinner and Ceili in during the festival in Carrick-on-Shannon.

The Mary From Dungloe International Festival is ten days of magical song and craic culminating in the selection of Mary from dazzling array of international girls. The festival takes place towards the end of July and has grown in popularity over the years, regularly attracting thousands of visitors to the Dungloe area or Donegal. The centerpoint of the festival is a pageant to crown one of the many contestants the title of Mary From Dungloe.

The Muckno Mania Festival has been running annually since 1999. The Festival includes a wide ranging variety of activities for all walks of life including the arts, music, dance, creative arts, sports, and crafts. The festival promotes community interest in the arts and to generate local participation with its varied and interesting programme.

The MacGill Summer School was founded in 1981 in Glenties to celebrate the memory of Patrick MacGill, a local writer in the early twentieth century who focused on the social conditions in Donegal and the plight of migrant workers in Britain along with the horrors of the Great War in which he fought as a soldier. The event is held over the August Bank Holiday weekend and involves high profile speakers from political life, academics, leaders of Irish organisations and writers.

The County Sligo Agricultural Show takes place annually in mid-July. It was established in Riverstown in 1994, taking over from the show which always had been held in Sligo town. There will be something for everybody including Horses, Ponies, Connemara Ponies, Young Stock, Riding Classes, Sheep, Cattle, Poultry, Home Industries, Dog and Cat Classes. Many of the classes are qualifiers to other shows in Ireland. There are also games for the children and not to mention the all important Bonny Baby competition, Little Miss Riverstown and Little Master Riverstown. Last but not least The Best Dressed Lady of the Show. Lots of on field entertainment too plus, trading stands and food.
