Ballinafad

Ballinafad nestles beside Lough Arrow at the foot of Bricklieve Mountain. It comes to life during the Mayfly season when the game anglers congregate to enjoy the excellent fishing in the lough. The small castle in Ballinafad was built at the end of the 16th century to protect the pass through the Curlew mountains. Ballinafad was once on the busy main Sligo to Dublin road but has been bypassed now.
