Cavan Town

Cavan town is a bustling town with many busy pubs, nightclubs, restaurants, cafes, shops, a leisure centre, cinema, 18 hole golf course, equestrian centre and bowling alley.

A new state of the art public library is located on Farnham Street. The library has extensive information on the history and heritage of the county. The building also houses the Genealogy Centre and Tourist Information Office.

Cavan Town also has a vibrant arts community with many local music and cultural festivals. Both the County Cavan Drama Festival and the NYAH Traditional Arts Festival take place annually during March/April. The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade (March 17th) draws large crowds. Many heritage events take place throughout the town during Heritage Week in Aug/Sept of every year. Traditional music sessions regularly take place in the town. Cavan town is rich in history and many buildings have survived for generations. Those interested in following the designated town walks (available at the Tourist Office) will discover a wealth of historical and architectural wonders.
