Milltown

Milltown village is located about 7 kilometres from the town of Belturbet on the Killeshandra. The village is situated in the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark and offers a wonderful visitor attraction in Drumlane Abbey. The abbey can be found in a scenic location between the lakes of Drumlane and Derrybrick on the outskirts of the village. Drumlane Abbey was founded in the 6th Century by St Mogue, but the remaining buildings on the site date from the 14th Century. The monks belonged to the Augustinian Order and had connections to the abbey in Kells where the famous Book of Kells was created.
